Scholarship All Southmoreland High School seniors are eligible to apply for the Scottdale Fall Festival Scholarship. Applicants must write an essay detailing their involvement in their community, school, church or other groups. They need to explain what they like best about their hometown and how they would improve it. The desire of the Festival Committee is that these young people will take on leadership positions in Scottdale or whatever town they end up calling "home." Applications should be submitted, Attention Scholarship Committe" to Scholarship Committee The 2008 Scottdale Fall Festival Scholarship recipient is Brianne Hennessey. Brianne was very active throughout her years at Southmoreland High School. She was on the Varsity Cheerleading Squad, Cross Country Team, Students for Life's Choices, SEAS, National Honor Society, Spanish Club, Spanish National Honor Society, Varsity Club, Science Club and Yearbook Staff. Brianne was also a volunteer at Frick Hospital, the Special Olympics and Southmoreland Elementary School/ Brianne will start a new chapter of her life this fall continuing her
education at Duquesne University. She will be majoring in chemistry and
have a double minor in math and Spanish. She has worked all summer at
Timberridge Golf Course. We wish you the best Brianne in all of your endeavors
and good luck.
